Lots of casual players I once sat next to a lady who asked me what doubling down was! Not one of my competitors- not one!-knew basic strategy solidly for the game we played (6D, H17, DAS, NS, resplit aces). However, from my experience I noticed that so many ploppies played that I often had to throw out the betting strategy. Much of the section on blackjack focuses on how to bet the last few hands if you're close to, or are, the chip leader. His basic premise is: don't be too aggressive at the beginning. I've read Wong's Casino Tournament Strategy (the blackjack section only) and tried to absorb what he wrote and apply it. I'll share my experience with 6-7 bj tournaments at a local casino, where each player received only 2K in chips ($25 min bet/$500 max bet) and after 20 hands only the highest chip total at each table advanced.
